SeatWave: Company Background

SeatWave was founded by Joe Cohen in May 2006 and began online trading in February 2007. It began operating in the European market before branching out abroad.

Mr Cohen, formerly of Match.com and Ticketmaster, managed to generate an annual turnover of almost £4 million in the first year of trading.

SeatWave acts at the middleman, attracting both buyers and sellers, although they never actually have contact with one another. All tickets are guaranteed to come from legitimate sources.

SeatWave: Customer Feedback & Reviews

Here is what SeatWave's customers and followers have been saying about them:

Reviewcentre.com gave them 4.2 out of 5 stars and said:

“AMAZING!!!”

BOUGHT TICKETS FOR LESS THAN FACE VALUE MONDAY AND ARRIVED TUESDAY!! THE EVENT WAS SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE!! CAN'T FAULT YOU SEATWAVE YOU ARE THE BEST!!...

“ODI Eng vs Aus @ Oval 01/07/12”

This was the first time I used Seatwave and I will definitely be using them again! It was easy to order online with a selection of tickets available. Collection point was quick, easy and convenient. I ordered the tickets Friday evening, picked them up Saturday morning and saw the game Sunday. The tickets were even cheaper (including admin charges) than the normal ticket price shown on the ticket itself - a real bargain! On a last minute whim, Seatwave was there with a secure and quick service.

Ticketreview.net said:

Due to the size of SeatWave there is a minimal chance of anything going wrong and if it does then you are covered via the ticket guarantee.

Appappeal.com said:

Seatwave.com is Europe’s largest online ticket exchange for concerts, sporting events and theatre. Sellers post the tickets they have for sale on the Seatwave site, and buyers bid on them. Tickets go to the highest bidder. The site offers guaranteed delivery of tickets and only takes a small price of the ticket sold for compensation. The site features TicketCover, which guarantees that the user is refunded the price of their tickets if an event is cancelled. The site ensures the integrity of the transaction by collecting credit card information from the seller.

Registered users can buy or sell tickets on the Seatwave site. The site has an arrangement with UPS to provide for easy sending of tickets from seller to buyer. The site features a comprehensive listing of tickets for upcoming concerts, sporting events, theatre and festivals.

While the feedback in general for SeatWave is quite positive, there are of course disgruntled consumer reviews too. From tickets being lost in the post to event organisers having sold too many tickets for actual places, you will find the odd negative review. Due to SeatWave's ticket guarantee, however, customers can be reassured of a refund if the worst does happen.

SeatWave: Website Popularity & Google Ranking

SeatWave has a global Alexa ranking of 46,748 and a UK ranking of 1,609. With 1,553 sites linking to theirs, they have achieved a great deal of popularity in a relatively short space of time. Around 68% of SeatWave’s audience is located in the UK.

SeatWave has a Google Page Ranking of 6/10.

Compete.com states that they have 12,813 unique visitors per month and gives it a ranking of 126,083 by UVS standards. It is ranked 2nd to that of the ticketmaster.co.uk website.

SeatWave: Social Media Presence

SeatWave has its own Facebook page containing celebrity news, deals and discounted tickets, fan pictures and testimonials. Their Facebook page has over 5,000 likes and its hardly surprising considering it's Europe's leading ticket marketplace. There is a Twitter page with over 11,000 followers in which they share news, discounts, images and answer all their customers questions in a timely and professional manner. There is also a YouTube page which features helpful how-to videos and promotional items.

Whist SeatWave does not have its own blog, there is an option to sign up for their newsletter which contains updates, special offers and news on the latest events.

SeatWave: Website Security & Safety

SeatWave use a secure connection when taking payment information and the industry recognised 'padlock' logo. Secured by Norton and powered by VeriSign they use the latest technology SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to make sure your credit card and personal details remain safe and secure online.

Google Safe Browsing states that the SeatWave website is not listed as suspicious, neither has it hosted any suspicious software or malware in at least the last 90 days.

SeatWave: Pricing & Packages

SeatWave’s pricing will differ from day to day, depend on which events are upcoming, how popular they are and the position of the seating offered. An example of ticket prices is listed below:

One Direction at the Staples Center, Los Angeles has tickets for sale from $105 to $222 depending on how close to the stage fans would like to be.

If you’d like to see the New England Patriots in the Gillette Stadium on Wednesday 1st August 2012, you can expect to pay anything from $50 to $66.67 for a ticket.

The Michael Jackson ‘The Immortal World Tour’ from Cirque Du Soleil has tickets available from $121.11 to $322.22 for the Wednesday July 11th 2012 performance, which is in less than a week’s time.

It is fair to say that SeatWave isn’t the cheapest place to buy your tickets, but it is reliable and you are guaranteed to receive your tickets or be entitled to a full refund. Considering the amount of scam ticket websites on the net, this alone is something to be thankful for. SeatWave is also a great way to obtain tickets that have previously been sold out for reasonable prices. It is a fair marketplace for both sellers and buyers to place their confidence in.

SeatWave: Shipping Rates & Policies

SeatWave will ship internationally to hundreds of countries from Austria to Zimbabwe. They ship with UPS and select the fastest and most secure delivery method to guarantee that you receive your tickets on time. Ticket cover is included in all purchases to make sure that customers will receive a full refund, including postage and booking fees, if your event is cancelled or postponed to a date you are unable to attend. They also guarantee their tickets come from legitimate sources.

SeatWave do not ship your tickets as they act as an intermediary between buyers and sellers. Sellers are recommended by SeatWave to use USPS Priority Mail, UPS Next Day Air or FedEx to make sure customers receive their tickets in the fastest time possible. Customers should allow themselves plenty of time to order their event tickets as SeatWave does not cover tickets for loss, late delivery or damage. Any problems arising with postage will need to addressed to your courier directly.

SeatWave: Payment Methods Accepted

SeatWave accept payment by the industry recognised PayPal, which is a great way to keep your financial details safe and secure. They also accept payment from major credit cards such as American Express, Visa and MasterCard. If you have a debit card displaying any of the aforementioned symbols you can use these in much the same way providing you have adequate funds in your account. SeatWave does not accept payment by personal check.

SeatWave: Returns, Refunds & Exchange Policy

SeatWave guarantee that their tickets come from legitimate sources and that you will receive the tickets you ordered (or similar) and that they will be with you by the day of your event. If this commitment is broken, they will take reasonable steps to source replacement tickets or offer a 100% refund. Any incorrect tickets sent must be returned to Seatwave before the event date to ensure a refund.   Similarly if any tickets were refused entry to an event, they must be returned to SeatWave so they can offer customers reimbursement.

“I used SeatWave quite a bit a few years ago. Always a positive experience!”

I accompanied my teenage daughter on a few events to see Boyzone and Backstreet Boys. Those were the days! I didn't know about the optional insurance cover, though. Good to know!
